The Digital Librarian works within MongoDB's global Technical Services team to help classify, organize and share technical knowledge and business processes.

Our Technical Services team use their exceptional problem solving and customer service skills, along with their deep technical experience, to advise customers and to solve their complex MongoDB problems. The Digital Librarian will work closely with the Technical Services Librarian, engineers, and managers in Technical Services to improve the accessibility and discoverability of our wiki, documentation, and other sources of information. They will also help design and implement content lifecycle processes, work to update deprecated materials, and address other information needs within Technical Services.

The Digital Librarian will work with an existing Technical Services Librarian, a Knowledge team, an Education team, and the Support team.

This role can be based out of our Charlotte office or remotely in the Americas (Central or Eastern Time Zones).

Responsibilities
• Help to build and maintain a global taxonomy to classify and organize Technical Services content, including support cases, knowledge articles, educational topics, policy, and process documentation
• Build systems, processes, and best practices for organizing our content using existing taxonomy
• Periodically audit and review both the taxonomy and our content for correctness and relevance
• Foster team contributions to the management of content
• Identify gaps in internal documentation and vocabularies that can be addressed by new content or processes
• Enable the team to find process documentation, records of past decisions, and current organizational goals to help the global customer service team function smoothly
• Improve efficiency by reducing the need to rediscover knowledge
• Help scale the growing Technical Services team by streamlining patterns of information consumption and management

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience; MSIS or other graduate-level library science degree or equivalent professional experience a plus
• 1+ years experience developing reference resources for internal and external audiences
• Extreme attention to detail
• Basic proficiency using Python or other scripting languages for data analysis and reporting
• Enjoys working in complex, technical environments
• Desire and ability to learn a variety of new technical skills
• Excellent written communication skills in English

Nice to Haves
• Experience managing and/or designing a large Wiki (on Confluence or similar, preferably including technical subject matter)
• Experience curating an internal or external knowledge base
• Experience using and administering databases (ideally MongoDB)
• Experience managing enterprise taxonomies
• Experience with metadata standards or semantic web standards (Dublin Core, TEI, RDF, SKOS, etc.)
• Experience with JIRA or Salesforce
• 1-2 years experience cataloging and indexing information resources
• 1-2 years experience working with NLP (Natural Language Processing)
• Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:
$90,000—$176,000 USD
