Research Intern, AI Hardware Accelerator Research

At our Center in Silicon Valley, we design the silicon processors and hardware accelerators which will bring artificial intelligence (AI) in full to the Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) of the future. From enabling autonomous driving systems to designing experiences for future vehicle concepts, our researchers apply advances in silicon technology for pervasive AI in the car. We are exploring the cutting edge of AI/ML algorithms, AI models, computer architecture, and silicon technology to bring datacenter-class AI capabilities to all our cars. We strive not only to push the boundaries of AI, but also to focus deeply on how to make human and machine elements interact and work together better.

During your internship, you will have the chance to contribute by a wide array of tasks, as you’ll help:
• Develop innovative silicon HW accelerators and system designs to extend the state of the art performance and power efficiency for diverse AI/ML algorithms and workloads.
• Understand the design and implementation, develop methodology and infrastructure to drive Performance, Power and Area (PPA) improvements in your contributions
• Understand programmability impact of all your innovations in silicon hardware and develop strategies to ease software development challenges
• Collaborate with silicon architects, designers and software engineers for optimal solutions

In order to qualify for this role, you must:
• Currently be pursuing a Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Be technologically creative, self-motivated to apply your working knowledge and toolset to building something and evaluating it.
• Exhibit strong organization ability with keen attention to detail.

Bonus points if you have:
• Experience with modeling AI algorithms using C/C++ and Python
• Experience with computer architecture modeling and simulation with tools like gem5.
• Experience with high-level hardware blocks modeling with SystemC and High-Level Synthesis (HLS) tools for either FPGA or ASIC.
• Experience with Chisel is a plus.
• Strong communication skills both written and oral.

Salary Range Estimate: $44.00-$48.00/hr. This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the salary range for the job’s grade level.
