A research made on the impact of ground effect aerodynamics lead a way to increase the performance of formula 1 2022 car. A generic profile, closed wheel CAD model for F1 2022 car is designed. As part of the change in technical regulation, a underbody geometry is proposed in the F1 2022 car. By understanding the research, underbody will increase the performance of the car by generating sufficient amount of downforce. Hence, the CAD model then is numerically evaluated in a fixed ground plane, MIRA wind tunnel CAD model using Computational Fluid Dynamics. The CFD setup will measure the pressure coefficient, drag and downforce etc. which will be accumulated with a baseline model and yawed flow of F1 car. Then, ride height configurations are made to analyse the aerodynamic behaviour of the car based on the track setup adjustments in order to produce varying downforce and drag. Finally, Slipstream condition of simulating two cars in straight is established to investigate the aerodynamic forces acting on both the cars. Even though, with a limited computing resource the CFD analysis predicted increase of downforce and reduced drag by the car. From collaborating results from all the CFD setups, detailed discussion about the impact of changes made to the car is examined.
