About the job
The Red Hat Experience Engineering (XE) team is looking for a skilled AI Technical Strategist/Software Engineer with excellent programming skills, familiarity with LLMs, RAG, and model evaluation and deployment, and the ability to partner with internal stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you should have an established set of foundational technical skills and the ability to learn quickly as we modernize platforms and tooling. You will be accountable for helping to shape our technical strategy for implementing AI and related solutions across the XE business. You’ll play a key role in early prototyping of solutions, performing data and model exploration, and connecting across multi-disciplinary teams to understand problem statements and feasibility. You likely have experience using analytics packages, translating and manipulating large datasets, and creating and maintaining software and tools that deliver meaningful impact and measurable value. This role will ideally be located with proximity to our Raleigh, NC office and willing to work in a hybrid environment, but may be flexible based on qualifications and provided that the candidate is open to significant US East Coast working hours.

What you will do
• Work closely with team members and stakeholders to turn business problems into analytical projects, translated requirements, and solutions
• Work cross-functionally with teams on data migration, translation, and organizational initiatives
• Translate large volumes of raw, unstructured data into highly visual and easily digestible formats
• Manage data pipelines for predictive analytics modeling, model lifecycle management, and deployment
• Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
• Help create, maintain, and implement tools, libraries, and systems to increase the efficiency and scalability of the team
• Develop and maintain proper controls and governance for data access
• Communicate data-related challenges and help to prioritize resolutions based on alignment with organizational goals

What you will bring
• Ability to critically analyze data, test hypothesis, and iteratively try new approaches
• Ability to problem solve and to test and implement new technologies and tools
• Solid grasp of data systems and how they interact with each other
• Proficient Python programming skills are required, including familiarity with popular Python machine learning libraries (such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, and Hugging Face)
• Experience with Linux system administration, shell scripting, and virtualization technology (containers) is required
• Mastery of git (version control) and experience with versioning, merge request, review, etc. processes and techniques is required
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks (eg., dask, pyspark) preferred
• OpenShift application development and administration is a plus
• Experience deploying applications using PaaS technologies (e.g,. OpenShift, Airflow) is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science/Analytics) with 3+ years of relevant working experience or Masters degree with 1+ year of working experience
• Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment, Kaggle competitions, or Open Source project contributions is a plus

The salary range for this position is $90,480 - $144,660. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
