I'm a Master's student at Michigan Technological University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Design & Manufacturing.
I’m currently on a co-op (Spring & Summer 2020) with Whirlpool Corporation in Amana, IA and working as a Manufacturing Engineer Co-op with the Quality Control Dept.
I expect to graduate this Fall (December 2020).
-
Experience
->Manufacturing Engineering Co-op, Whirlpool Corp, Amana, IA
(Jan 2020-Aug 2020)
Working on Kaizens with the aim to reduce scrap with a potential to save a minimum of $100k annually.
Quality Tools used - RCA, 3G, 5W1H, 5QfZd, 5S, etc.
->Quality Engineering Intern, Indian Railways, Pune, India
(Apr 2018-May 2018)
Found potential causes for engine breakdowns by analyzing data and organized workplace to reduce operator movements to a minimum.
Quality Tools used - 5S, Value Stream Mapping
-
Projects
->Additive Manufacturing of a Product Targeting the Consumer Market Segment
(Jan 2019 – Apr 2019)
-Designed a gear train assembly for a wrist watch based on the Ferguson Paradox principle that could be manufactured in one-go; thus eliminating assembly time and reducing overall production time.
-Whole assembly was manufactured using only a third of the budget with 78% reduction in costs when compared with traditional subtractive manufacturing processes.
->Improvement of Airplane Manufacturing Process Using Lean Tools
(Jan 2019 – Apr 2019)
-Simulated 3 production runs of paper planes while continuously reducing cycle time using Just In Time (JIT), Heijunka (Load-leveling) & Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) activities.
-Successfully achieved target takt time with fewer operators and managed inventory using Value Stream Mapping after each iteration run.
-Standardized the work procedure for increased repeatability and improved accuracy by employing Poka Yoke devices.
->Quality Control using Statistical Methods
(Sep 2018 – Dec 2018)
-Performed Statistical Process Control on simulated data to identify sampling errors and zero in on the root causes.
-Studied the process capability of a bush manufacturing process data (simulated) and gave recommendations for further improvement.
